This one hits hard guys..

Right from the start hearing Futhark, you know this album means business. If I loved the version on the previous album, this version is even better. It puts you directly in the right atmosphere in the first few seconds. More focused, more powerful, more ritualistic. A perfect invocation, you are instantly there, in the circle, ready for what comes next.

Krieg Im Himmel. Now this is how you write a dark and epic! What an incredible, apocalyptic vision. I love how brutal and cinematic it is. “Horst du das schreien der Engel”, you can literally see the sky on fire, the sea turning red, the wounded angels falling. The image of blood raining down and the lone weeping angel on the battlefield watching the dying sun disappear. That gave me chills in the best way. As a fan of dark, extreme storytelling, this is exactly what I want. “Es ist Krieg im Himmel” is such a powerful, relentless chorus. Absolute war-metal-atmosphere, and the German lyrics make it even more intense and authentic. Masterful.

Are The Stories Right. This is anthem material. Pure Norse power. They captured that feeling in the halls of Valhalla perfectly, the Enherjar ready, horns will blow and blood will flow. I love the big question at the heart of it: “Are the stories right? Will Baldur rule, son of Odin, Savior of the north.” The chant of “Rise Baldur rise, Out of chaos, Ragnarök” is so uplifting and mighty. It gives you that feeling that after chaos, a new day shall rise. Epic, sing-along, mythic. This is exactly why people love Embolus, or start listening to Embolus right now.

Sunna. I have to stop and rant about Sunna for a second because I literally could not get enough of this song. I had it on repeat for a while, for real! I’m not kidding. What an insanely great track! Such energetic vibes, such drive, you simply HAVE to dance and move to this song. It’s pure sun-energy. I want the entire world to hear this song. This will no doubt be a hit and bring so many new people to the band. If someone asks me what Embolus sounds like at their most joyful and powerful, I’m playing them Sunna. Instant classic.

Bluot Zi Bluoda. And what a closer! Finally, the clans have gathered. Oh man, you feel that unity and strength. I love this old battle pride, this ancient Germanic spirit. “Together we fight, Together we destroy Roman might” It’s defiant and proud in the best way. And then weaved in the old Merseburg Charm “Bin zi bina, Bluot zi bluoda”. That connection between blood to blood, limb to limb, it gives me goosebumps. Standing on their walls, watching Rome fall, revenge as calling, history coming alive. A perfect, powerful ending.

This album is tighter, more atmospheric, and more daring than ever. They took everything great from the previous two albums, and forged it into something even stronger! Myth, war in heaven, Valhalla, sun-dance and ancient blood-magic, it’s all here. I am very excited for this group of four lads from the Netherlands, and I can literally not wait to hear more in the future!
