Released in 2003. This was not a full album but more like an E.P.
The Are The Stories Right album is pure Viking fire!
What an absolute blast this one is. The raw emotion, the epic storytelling, and that unstoppable energy. It hits you right in the chest every single time. Honestly, every song feels like a chapter in a dark, beautiful and epic novel you get to live inside.
The opening song Futhark was interesting to hear. A very warm song that instantly made you feel like a powerful Viking warrior standing tall in the long halls. It’s got this cozy, legendary warmth that just lifts you up and makes you want to charge into battle. Then came Krieg Im Himmel (the re-mastered version from the previous album), and oh man, that opening line alone is legendary. “Horst du das Schreien der Engel. Es regnet Blut”, It’s pure cinematic chaos and I already felt like the angels were screaming right above me. The band nailed the re-mastering; it sounds even more massive and alive than before.
But the real star of this album? Sunna. You couldn’t get enough listening to this song. I literally had it on repeat for a while! It’s such an incredible track with those energetic vibes that just make your feet want to move. One simply has to dance to this song. I want the entire world to hear this song. This will no doubt be a hit, and result in many more people learning about the band. The powerful rhythm, the unstoppable spirit, and that pure fun energy are impossible to resist.. It’s the kind of track that turns a normal day into a celebration and leaves everyone grinning and moving.
And then the title track Are The Stories Right. Man, what a thunderous closer. “In the halls of Valhalla the men are ready to fight Loki”. “Is it true what they say? Are the stories right?” The whole thing builds into this massive, heart-pounding anthem that just makes you want to raise your fists and roar. The anthemic chorus, the Viking pride, and that final “Rise Baldur, rise… out of chaos Ragnarök” hit you like a hammer to the soul. It’s epic, it’s raw, and it’s unforgettable.
This album is an absolute masterpiece of raw, honest, and truly artistic expression. It’s the kind of record that makes you sit with your headphones on, lights low, and just feel everything. From the warm Viking glow of Futhark to the raging fire of Sunna and the legendary finale. You guys poured your soul into these lyrics and it shows on every line. The atmosphere, the emotion, the way the stories paint these vivid worlds, it’s all so fresh, so passionate, and so alive.
Thank you for sharing these incredible songs. I’m genuinely impressed, moved, inspired, and dancing already! Are The Stories Right is a winner, and it deserves to be heard, felt, and remembered. These guys did something special. Keep creating, keep shining!
